In 1897 Ransom Eli Olds, a manufacturer of stationary gasoline engines, and Frank Clark, the son of a small carriage shop operator founded the Olds Motor Company after they had successfully created a self-contained gasoline-powered carriage. It was a typical one-cylinder, chain-driven vehicle and not too distinguished looking. But in 1900 R.E. Olds added a feature that made his car unforgettable. It was a curved dashboard. A year later, Olds combined the Curved Dash self-contained gasoline-powered carriage. The company was in full swing and created the first assembly line. They became the first mass producer of gasoline cars.
The unique Oldsmobile was followed in 1906, by the Model S, the first four-cylinder Oldsmobile with two versions; the Gentlemen's Roadster and the Palace Touring. In 1910, the now-famous Limited was unveiled. With truly huge machines, the Limited were build on 130-inch wheelbase chassis and 42-inch tires. By 1911, the limited housed 707-cid six-cylinder engine at 60 hp. By 1915, a brand new Model 42 with four-cylinder Roadster hit the road. It was followed by Model 37 in 1918. These antique vehicles are becoming more popular with closed cabin feature.
Oldsmobile was unstoppable on the 20s. This era produced several amazing Oldsmobile: Model 46 in '21, Model 47 and coupe in '22. By 1926, the Oldsmobile introduced the chrome plated trim, an important styling asset that was first used on the radiator shell. 1928 gave a totally new Oldsmobile, the F-28. This was powered by a 55 hp engine from 1928 cid. The F-28 expanded to 14 models, spread among 7 basic body styles and standard, Deluxe and Sport trim. By 1934, the convertible was available only in the L-34 (eight- cylinder) series and sold fewer than 1,000 units.

Lower profiles gave the 34s an even more streamlined look, but the real news that year came in the form of "Knee Action" independent front suspension and hydraulic-rather than mechanical-brakes. The automobile has immensely changed the lives of every human being and the Oldsmobile was one that contributed to that change. The antique Oldsmobile are now replaced by modern styles that are a far cry from the small elegant curved-dash classic. But the antique Oldsmobile will continue to run with the existing antique Oldsmobile parts still promise to bring out the image of the original antique Oldsmobile that once shaped the way people move and contributed to a faster, better, and smaller world.
